David C. Khan , M.D.
Dr. David C. Khan is a board certified Radiation Oncologist with special interest and expertise in prostate brachytherapy. His practice is based out of Centinela Freeman Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Khan received his undergraduate degree from Pomona College where he earned the distinction of being a Pomona Scholar. He received his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University. He completed his medical training at New York University and Bellevue Hospital, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious teaching hospitals.
Prior to joining the team at Centinela Freeman Memorial hospital, he was at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles where he was the Chief of the Genitourinary brachytherapy service. During his tenure there, he was able to successfully start the prostate permanent seed implant program and trained resident radiation oncologists in the techniques of surgical radiation oncology. He has special expertise in Real Time Prostate Planning and has personally performed over three hundred prostate seed implants.
Dr. Khan is one of the Co-Investigators in the Urban Latino African American Cancer (ULAAC) project which is a National Cancer Institute unrestricted grant. The purpose of the ULAAC project is to study disparities of care amongst minorities. The ULAAC grant provides for the partnership between USC and Centinela Freeman to offer nationally recognized clinical trials. This collaboration will allow Centinela Freeman Memorial Hospital the infrastructure to offer cutting edge therapies to cancer patients which could only be offered in the university setting before.
Dr. Khan currently serves on the Continuing Medical Education committee, the Tumor Board Committee, Radiation Safety Committee, Cancer Committee, and Oncology Development Committee at Centinela Freeman Memorial Hospital. He also serves on the Emerging Technologies Committee for the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology. Dr. Khan has been selected by his peers to be included in Best Doctors in America. |
