Facility
The Radiation Oncology Department at Good Samaritan Hospital is well-equipped with advanced technology for radiation therapy. The department offers Varian linear accelerator technology and a dedicated CT simulator. Other featured services include both High Dose Rate (HDR) and Low Dose Rate (LDR) Brachytherapy, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and Gamma Knife® radiosurgery. The services provided include accelerated partial breast radiation therapy, prostate permanent seed implants and temporary prostate implants. The Gamma Knife radiosurgery services at Good Samaritan Hospital has been the longest-running program on the West Coast, with nearly 3000 such procedures performed.
Physicians
Radiation treatment is provided by the physicians of Cancer Care Consultants Medical Associates, with Dr. David Huang as Medical Director.
Personnel
The radiation cancer care team at Good Samaritan includes certified radiation therapists, a radiation oncology nurse, a dosimetrist, and a Ph.D. level physicist. Nutritional consultations are also provided for patients who might need such services. The personnel and physicians meet on a weekly basis to review the treatment and progress of every patient. Cancer Support Services are also available with programs to assist patients in coping with their illness.
